A Very Old Cooking Tradition – Rough Surfaced Spanish Plates and Bowls

While it may look a new, beautiful cooking accessary, our garlic grater and our other rough surfaced bowls have origins deep in Roman antiquity. Rough surfaced Spanish plates and bowls have been found throughout the Mediterranean world. Some of these date back to the first century. Today, this little plate is part of a unique cooking culture that stretches from Spain, France and Italy to the Adriatic and beyond. They are handmade and hand painted by Spanish artisans who are part of an industry that has been creating pottery, tile and ceramics for a millennium.

Our grating plates are beautiful and functional. The only upgrade from the centuries old tradition is that they are dishwasher safe. They conform to European Union and American standards for lead and cadmium paint. In other words they are safe for you and your family.
